Ethik hat es zuerst mit dem Verstehen moralischen Denkens und erst sekundär mit Begründungsfragen zu tun. Michael U. Braunschweig arbeitet diese zentrale These in Diskussion mit sowohl kontinentaleuropäischen als auch angelsächsischen Kritikern der begründungstheoretischen orientierten Ethikkonzeptionen der Moderne heraus. Im Gespräch mit Wittgenstein, Gadamer, Diamond und McDowell erkennt er als Zentrum ethischen Denkens den hermeneutisch sensiblen Umgang mit der Sprache, die nicht nur ein Werkzeug für Informationsvermittlung ist, sondern Lebenswelten, Existenzweisen und Praxisfelder erschließt und moralisch bedeutsam macht. Kierkegaards Taten der Liebe werden als eine solche hermeneutische Liebesethik gedeutet, die als pragmatische Einweisung in ein Leben und eine Praxis der Liebe nicht auf äußere Begründung angewiesen ist, sondern ihre Orientierung in sich trägt. Als geistgeleitete Ethik ist sie sowohl theologisch wie philosophisch anschlussfähig.

Theological interpretation of the Bible is one of the most significant debates within theology today. Yet what exactly is theological reading? Darren Sarisky proposes that it requires identification of the reader via a theological anthropology; an understanding of the text as a collection of signs; and reading the text with a view toward engaging with what it says of transcendence. Accounts of theological reading do not often give explicit focus to the place of the reader, but this work seeks to redress this neglect. Sarisky examines Augustine's approach to the Bible and how his theological insights into the reader and the text generate an aim for interpretation, which is fulfilled by fitting reading strategies. He also engages with Spinoza, showing that theological exegesis contrasts not with approaches that take history seriously, but with naturalistic approaches to reading.

Examining the intersection of disability and genre in popular works of horror, crime, science fiction, fantasy, and romance published since the late 1960s, Disability, Literature, Genre is a major contribution to both cultural disability studies and genre fiction studies.
